When her son was born over a decade ago, Kimberly McLeod started crafting keepsake memories for him. Now, she’s inspiring millions of families to get creative with simple, hands-on activities through her site The Best Ideas for Kids, and a brand-new release, The Ultimate Book of Would You Rather Questions.

“Just for fun, I started sharing [the crafts] online. I created a blog at that point, and then started sharing them through social media,” share Kimberly. “Back then…there [weren’t] a lot of craft creators in the space, so I was just sharing some ideas and the first few that I shared went viral. From there, it kind of just took off. And after my daughter was born, I thought, ‘y’know, maybe I could do this full time,’ and I decided to take a leap of faith and jump into it.”

Kimberly’s first viral craft—a handprint ornament made from kitchen ingredients—struck a chord. The project was affordable, heartfelt, and easy for families to do together. As her audience grew, she leaned into the creative momentum, eventually turning her hobby into a full-time job after her daughter was born.

Now, years later, her platforms have gained a huge following, but the thing she loves most hasn’t changed: Watching kids take her concepts and make them their own.

“I just love seeing all the different variations that kids make based on the idea and how creative they can be on their own.”

She typically releases three to six new crafts a month, in addition to popular printables like coloring pages and activity worksheets.

A Book to Take on the Go

Her latest release is a compact, kid-friendly book filled with 1,000 Would You Rather questions that’s perfect for road trips, camp, or screen-free downtime. The idea came to Kimberly because her audience loved the Would You Rather questions she’d come up with, and she wanted to create a resource that was more accessible to people than having to print off the questions from her site.

The book includes checkboxes so kids can answer questions independently or use it with family and friends. With two children of her own, ages 8 and 11, she knows firsthand how helpful independent play can be.

“They can take the book and ask each other the questions while I make dinner or do some chores around the house.”
