The KidWind Art Challenge, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office, is gearing up for an exciting 2025 competition designed to inspire K–8 students to explore renewable energy through creativity.

Michael Aquin, founder of KidWind, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, saying, “With the plethora of submissions we had last year, it was extremely hard to choose. This year we will recognize four selections per grade instead of two so that we can highlight even more students’ artwork at the annual CLEANPOWER conference.”

The challenge invites K–8 students to submit original artwork that reflects the theme of wind energy. Four entries from each grade will be chosen for display at the CLEANPOWER 2025 Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, Arizona from May 19–22. The selected pieces will be professionally framed, and each student will receive a commemorative plaque. Additionally, there will be an opportunity for honorable mentions, which can include a certificate or the students’ artwork being displayed on the KidWind website.

Submission Guidelines
Students are asked to create artwork on an 8.5-by-11 or 11-by-17-sized paper, which may be displayed horizontally or vertically. The artwork should be original and submitted by the student’s teacher, coach, parent, or guardian. Each student is limited to submitting one piece of art, though adults can submit applications on behalf of multiple students. Drawing and painting in any media is accepted, but no computer-generated artwork or print will be accepted.

Submission Process and Deadline
All artwork must be submitted via the online form by 12 p.m. CST on February 28, 2025. To learn more about the KidWind Art Challenge, visit kidwind.org
