According to USA Hockey, Colorado ranks number 12 nationally in total youth hockey players (ages 18 and under), and Colorado has recorded an eight percent season-over-season gain in girls hockey players from 2014 to 2016. If your child has ever expressed interest in the sport, or you think he or she might enjoy playing, sign them up for ?USA Hockey’s annual Try Hockey for Free Day on Saturday, February 25.

The nationwide event gives youth ages four to nine the chance to try the sport, free of charge. Colorado kids can get in on the action at four Denver metro area events in Centennial, Westminster, Superior, and Monument. Experienced coaches will be on the ice teaching kids the basics, and no previous skating or hockey experience is required. Equipment will be available to borrow at each event location. Visit tryhockeyforfree.com to register.
