Mountain Phoenix Community School, a public charter school (PK-8), and our homeschool program, Lively Arts (PK-8), offer a curriculum guided by the Core Principles of Public Waldorf Education. MPCS is dedicated to our students’ success by understanding their personal rhythm, supporting the unique unfolding of their emotional and social intelligences. Allowing children to experience the expansive, imaginative joys of childhood, while inspiring them to become creative thinkers. Rich in the arts, music, experiential learning, and scientific inquiry, our curriculum is also aligned with festivals and family events throughout the year, along with field trips, and overnight experiences.

Main Campus:

An Artistic Approach to Education. Well-developed programs in music/orchestra, environmental stewardship, drama, and handwork enliven the academic curriculum and support deep understanding and academic success.

A Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum and Learning Environment. We recognize the stages of child development and fosters academic growth in a supportive environment that values each child’s learning style and level.

A Free Public Charter School. Our educational program is guided by the core principles of Public Waldorf education and is available to all families dedicated to this education for their children. Active parent involvement is an integral part of our thriving learning community. Parents are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways, from joining ongoing activities to school governance.

Homeschool:

Waldorf-Inspired Arts Enrichment. Lively Arts Homeschool is a one day per week program providing arts enrichment and social interaction for homeschool students. Students experience classes in Spanish, Art, Performing Arts, Games, Handwork, Cooking, and more, depending on grade level.

Curriculum, Support & Training. Although the Lively Arts program does not instruct students in academic subjects, we are proud to provide our families with Waldorf Essentials curriculum at no cost. Families are also invited to homeschooling seminars throughout the year.

Class Dynamics. We intentionally keep our class sizes small so that students can more easily make friends and teachers can build strong relationships with each child. Classes will have 10-15 students. Classes are typically grouped: Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd grades, 3rd&4th, 5th & 6th and then 7th & 8th.
