What is the camp’s mission and philosophy?

We aim to provide high-quality, challenging, and fun creative writing opportunities and offer a supportive community in which youth can find their own voices and discover the freedom to create.

 

What safety measures are in place?

All campers are checked in and checked out at the start and end of each camp session. Campers are

supervised at all times by an instructor or a staff member.

 

What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?

12 campers to one adult in-person and 20 campers to one adult online (max).

 

How are staff members screened and trained?

Camps are led by published and award-winning writers who go through an extensive interview and onboarding process. All faculty participate in a background check before working with youth.

 

Is there a daily schedule, and can you provide an example?

Half-Day Camps:

Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM-12:30 PM or 1:00-4:00 PM

 

Middle/High School Summer Intensive:

Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM-3:30 PM

 

Lunch care:

12:30-1:00 PM.

 

Are there opportunities for free play or downtime?

There will time for snack breaks, downtime, and free play throughout the sessions. If the camper is there all day, there is a scheduled lunch break. 

 

How does the camp handle health issues and allergies?

We keep a list of allergies and make arrangements accordingly. We keep emergency contacts and have CPR trained staff who are familiar with best practices in accessibility. 

 

Are there opportunities for parents to visit or participate in camp activities?

Only the registered camper may attend summer camp sessions, unless an adult is needed to attend with

the child for reasons such as health care, translation, or other accommodations.
