What is the camp’s mission and philosophy?
Core values are respect, responsibility, and community. DA’s Summer Program offers differentiated instruction and summer fun for students with varied learning profiles, including those with dyslexia and ADHD, grades 1-12.
What safety measures are in place?
Denver Academy is a secure campus with fencing and gates, a keycard locking system, and security cameras. Off-duty Denver Police Dept. officers are on campus. Medical & emergency forms required.
What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
15 campers to 2 counselors/teachers
How are staff members screened and trained?
All staff members undergo a background check. Classes and camps are taught by Denver Academy- trained teachers. Visit https://www.denveracademy.org/academics/our-approach for our approach to teaching and learning.
Is there a daily schedule, and can you provide an example?
Classes and camps are offered from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with some camps offered until 4:30 p.m. Schedule is based on class/camp registration.
Are there opportunities for free play or downtime?
We will have scheduled brain breaks for art, games, and other activities during each class. We understand that students learn best when they are active and stimulated.
How does the camp handle health issues and allergies?
We require all medical forms and emergency contact forms to be completed for students to enter our campus. DA’s Director of Summer Programs will coordinate health issues/allergy concerns with parents.
Are there opportunities for parents to visit or participate in camp activities?
Yes, some classes/camps include performances or parent participation. There is also a student/parent/teacher social gathering on the last day of the program.
