Not many people can look awake — much less alert — at 4:30 in the morning, but Fox 31 anchor Brooke Wagner greets Denver’s Good Day Colorado viewers with a fresh and friendly face each weekday morning. After hours on set, this busy mom of two depends on her routine and her husband’s support to get the time she needs to nurture herself and rejuvenate.
Brooke’s Me Time:
Work is kind of my Me Time—but I have to have my routine to stay healthy and balanced, and my family respects that (well, most of the time)! I carve out at least 30 minutes to exercise every day. I mix it up: yoga, running, Pilates, hiking, ZumbaI do whatever I feel like, but I always do something. Otherwise, I won’t have the energy to get up at 1:45 a.m.! I also turn on dance music while I do chores. My other passion is reading. I’m always deep into a novel (or two).
How do you carve out Me Time?
On my schedule, routine is key. My husband is very good about taking over with the kids so I can take a run or go to bed.
What is the best advice you were ever given?
My mom and dad taught me, you do what you have to do in life. Everyone has his or her own struggles. You have to step up and make what you want of your life, without making excuses.
