Home isn’t just a place to sleep or stop by after work. A home is where you get to fully relax, create beautiful memories, and be yourself with the people you love.

You might feel like your home isn’t what you would like it to be. In fact, if you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone. A survey commissioned by Slickdeals finds that 60 percent of American homeowners are embarrassed to have people over to their homes because of their aesthetic choices.

It’s intimidating, time-consuming, and costly to change up the style of your home, but local mom Patricia “Trish” Bonney started Stable Design to Build to help remodel, redesign, and update homes to reflect the owners.

“Going through a job, I tell clients to be patient. This is not going to be fun because it’s dusty, dirty, loud, and yucky,” Trish says. “But, at the end of the day, when it’s all said and done, they’re so thankful…Seeing the smiles and bringing more functionality into their life with beauty – all of that combined, that’s when it really means a lot to me.”

Before starting Stable, Trish served 20 years in the Air Force before retiring. Trish and her husband met in England, where they both were stationed, and they’ve been married for 26 years and have three boys together.

“When I retired from the military, I struggled finding a job. I did have degrees for education, and I taught for one year, and especially going from the military, it was not enjoyable for me, ” Trish recalls. “I went back to school and then found out I had gastrointestinal cancer.”

Trish recalls lying in a hospital bed when the nurse came to her side and asked what she was looking forward to the most.

She told the nurse that she loved art and wanted a creative outlet.

“[The nurse] immediately brought up the Art Institute, and they had an interior design program,” Trish says. “So I signed up, and I started about six months after I had my surgery.”

Trish successfully beat cancer and found her way to interior design. In 2016, Trish started Stable Design to Build and has loved transforming her clients’ houses into homes.

“I love collaborating and working with clients, especially those who are embarking on a new chapter in their lives,” Trish states. “If you’re in a position where you’re struggling to envision or make decisions for your remodel, then reach out to me.”
