While we pause this weekend ot celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., places throughout Colorado are coming together through service, celebration, and remembrance. Here are some events happening across the state to commemorate MLK Day this year.

Boulder

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

When: Sunday, Jan. 18 from 2:30-4:30pm

Where: Boulder JCC, 6007 Oreg Ave

More information: Hosted by the Second Baptist Church Boulder, this event will include vignettes performed by local actors, music by local youth honoring jazz legend George Morrison, film excerpts, and speeches that bring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s messages of justice, love, and nonviolence to life.

Denver

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ecumenical Inner-Faith Service

When: Sunday, Jan. 18 at 4pm

Where: Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia Street, Denver.

Denver MLK Day Parade (a.k.a. Marade)

When: Opening Ceremony at 10am, Marade Step-off at 11:45am on Monday, Jan. 19.

Where: Opening Ceremony and step-off at City Park with the parade route marching from City Park down Colfax Ave. to the end at the Colorado State Capital.

MLK Jr. African American Heritage Rodeo

When: Monday, Jan. 19.

Where: Denver Coliseum (4600 N Humboldt St.)

Cost: Tickets are $25-$63

Fort Collins

Fort Collins Community Celebration

When: Monday, Jan. 19, 10am

Where: CSu’s Lory Student Center

More information: No march this year, but a variety of expanded in-person activities for people of all ages.

Grand Junction

Black Trivia Family Game Night

When: Monday, Jan. 19, noon

Annual MLK Celebration

When: Monday, Jan. 19, 10am-12:30pm

Where: Bob L. Burger Recreation Center, 111 W. Baseline Rd.

More Information: The celebration is free, all-ages, and family-friendly. No march this year, but there will be breakfast, coffee, hot chocolate, children’s activities, musical performances, speakers, and more.
