Summer is in full swing, and while you might be thinking of all the fun activities you’re going to attend in the next two months, you should also be considering how to prepare for those activities so that your family stays safe and cool. Whether it’s an outdoor concert, community festival, or a day adventuring in Colorado’s nature, you can make some simple preparations to ensure a fun day for all.

Little Ears, Big Noise

If your summer plans include taking your little ones to any concerts or events with lots of people and noise, then noise-reducing headphones or soft earplugs are a must. Avoid the fuss and protect their delicate eardrums.

Sun Protection for the Win

Cliche, but necessary. Wear sunscreen, and a lot of it. And don’t forget to reapply! Sunglasses and hats are also a good idea for prolonged time in the sun. Nobody wants to squint all day or get a sunburn on their head.

Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.

Hydration is absolutely crucial for enjoying outdoor summer activities. Keep a few refillable bottles on hand, and make sure each family member is drinking water throughout the day.

Fuel Up

You burn more calories when you’re sweating. Sunny days = exerting more energy. Load up on the snacks! Even if you can’t bring them into the event you’re attending, it’s a good idea to have them in the car for fueling up after the day’s activities. Things like trail mix, granola bars, and dried fruit are great to have on hand.

A little planning means a lot more fun, for them and for you. So take a bit of time before your plans this summer to make sure you have everything you need to avoid meltdowns and sunburns.
