The number of party food ideas floating around are numerous and overwhelming. These simple ideas will keep you stress free and provide the kids with a delicious treat.
“Start with a basic kids love, and provide ways for adults to take the food to the next level,” says Donnah Phipps, an event planner for Three Tomatoes Catering. Here are her ideas:
1. SLIDERS AND CHIPS.Kids love these mini-burgers served with plenty of ketchup and mustard. For the adults, up the condiments. “Go gourmet by adding garlic aioli or sautéed mushrooms,” says Phipps.
2. MAC AND CHEESE BAR. What kid doesn’t love this tried and true favorite? “Add sides like peas and fried parsley or add truffle oil,” Phipps suggests.
3. POPCORN PARTY.“Everyone loves popcorn,” says Phipps. Up the ante by providing flavors to shake on, like cayenne pepper, cumin, parmesan cheese and more.
Whatever you decide to serve, don’t go overboard. “The point of the party is to enjoy your guests,” says Phipps. “That means not getting trapped in the kitchen due to an overzealous menu.”
