Take time during the holiday break to get the kids in the kitchen. It’s apple season, so Wacky Apple, a family-run Colorado business that makes organic applesauce, juice and fruit leather and grows the most Honeycrisp apples in the state, shared a couple of fun apple recipes. Older kids can make the microwave cake-in-a-cup recipe all by themselves. Little ones will enjoy helping to measure and watching the magic of a cake that bakes in a snap. To sneak in a little math lesson, use a large mug and ask kids to figure out how to double the recipe. The whole family will enjoy the warm, spicy apple flavor.

Festive Holiday Sipper
Need a festive warm drink for family gettogethers? Hot apple cider is a favorite for kids and grown-ups. Pack some in a thermos to enjoy on a Thanksgiving hike or serve it as a festive drink for guests of all ages at Thanksgiving dinner.
WACKY APPLE HOT APPLE CIDER
1 cup of Wacky Apple apple juice per person
½ teaspoon of mulling spices per container of apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
Fresh organic orange and apple slices
Fresh organic cranberries
NOTE: Mulling Spices can be found in the spice isle.
Combine apple juice and mulling spices in a pot, simmer on low to medium heat for 20-30 minutes. Don’t boil; it can turn the spices bitter. Pour into your favorite mug, garnish with orange and apple slices, cranberries and a cinnamon stick and BOOM! Delicious, fresh hot apple cider.
